英語村第12回目（2022年10月18日）

後期英語村第2回目の様子です。3人の講師のMichaelさんとAlanaさん、そしてKatrinaさんは、それぞれ学生さんの人数や要望に応じた対応をしてくださるので豊かな活動が期待できます。

一番奥のKatrinaさんと英語で深い会話を展開している常連の学生さん。身振り手振りも加わって本当に楽しそう。自然な会話が弾んでいることは一目瞭然。

真ん中のグループの学生さんたちは、Alanaさんとカードゲームをしながら英語のフレーズを繰り出していました。講師の皆さんが用意してくださるゲームカードは何種類もあって、それぞれが楽しいだけでなく頭も使う、しかも英語の語彙や表現をぐいぐいと引き出してくれる仕掛けになっています。カードを持つ手元を見てみましょう。ゲームの進行に応じて、歓声が上がったり興奮混じりのやり取りが起こったりするのですが、絵カードだけではそのからくりが分かりません。やっぱり参加することに意義があるんですね。皆さん、ぜひとも実際に確かめに来てください。

そして向かって最前列にはMichaelさんと会話を楽しむ学生さん。ゲームカードはとりあえず置いておいて何を話しているでしょう。満面の笑顔が素敵です。

English Village was very busy today with many new students joining in.
We were thrilled that our conversational students brought some words/phrases.
This week’s key word/phrase is: STICK WITH [Phrasal Verb]

1. (stick with someone) to stay close to someone and go with them wherever they go, especially so that they can help or protect you

Stick with me and you’ll be all right.

2. (stick with something) to continue to do or use something, and not change it

They’re going to stick with the same team as last Saturday.

We had a tough time for a few years, but we stuck with it.

3. (sticks with you) if something sticks with you, you continue to remember it clearly

It was a moment that has stuck with me for years
