Welcome back to English Village Online!
While we wait for the number of infections to go down, and the number of vaccinations to go up, we are taking an extra safety measure by hosting the English Village online again.
For those of you who joined us online last year, you’d be happy to learn that we are once again opening the three breakout rooms. 1) Conversation Starter 2) Quiz 3) Open Talk. Come join us again!
For those of you who have not experienced the online English Village, please check out the information PDF.
If some of you are feeling disappointed that you are not able to have a face-to-face English Village, let me give you one encouraging point of trying English Village online. Currently, it is still very difficult to travel abroad, or for foreigners to come to Japan. When Michael and I were your age, it also wasn’t easy for us to travel or meet many foreign students. During that time, we didn’t have the internet so we would write letters to fellow students in other countries. We called these friends Pen Pals. Right now, you can make friends from all over the world via social media. You could write messages (just like we did with our letters to our pen pals), or you could take advantage of using facetime, zoom, or another video streaming service. If you’d like to do that, but do not feel confident with your English speaking online, this is a perfect opportunity to practice. You can even “pop in” for 10 or 15 minutes!
We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity. See you online!
Our instructors, the lovely Anderson family:
Our next online English Villages: every Thursday until mid-November. We hope to be back to face-to-face from then. Hope to see you there!
We wanted to thank all the students who joined today’s online EV. You all did an amazing job participating in the Conversation Starter breakout rooms. Please join us again!
We wanted to give everyone a “heads up” about next week’s EV. Next week is Halloween week, so we will be dressing up. Come and see who we will be, and let’s talk about Halloween and other holidays that are celebrated in Japan and around the world. What is your favorite holiday or holiday tradition? Tell us about it at the next EV.
See you next week!
