Julian’s English Homestay & Pension にて１日英語生活体験が7月3日に実施されました。
This year, as we continue to operate “with Covid”, we are hosting English Day Camps, instead of Homestay Programs. Although the program is shorter than a Homestay Program, we still were able to enjoy many of the English activities that we normally do during the Homestay Program.
We were thrilled that the students who attended had a good time, and made good use of their English. We felt that all of the students made a big effort to ask interesting and meaningful questions in an effort to learn more about the interests, backgrounds, and home life of the English teachers and family members. This year we have noticed that all of the students have a more mature nature. I don’t know if we should give credit to the year they spent at home alone which allowed them more time to “find themselves”, the massive surge of (Japanese) influencers on Youtube and tik tok, the growing global awareness of the desperate situation everyone is facing around the globe, or a change in the school’s curriculum. Whatever the reason we were really impressed that this year’s students operate on a similar level of awareness and maturity as their counterparts in other countries.
While we look forward to the day when we can run the Homestay Programs again, we are encouraged by the success of the One Day English Camps. We hope to be able to host another One Day English Camp for Christmas later this year.
