Hi! Please check Katrina’s special announcement about Halloween!

Katrina’s message:

This week several students were able to play the “In a Pickle” game. The object of the game was to find a word that could “fit in” the previous word. For example if the word was “orange juice” you could play the word “house”, because “orange juice” can be found in, or fit in, a “house”. Sometimes the word play was easy, but at other times you had to think really hard. What can fit in a “turkey”? A “car”. What?! While a car cannot fit in a “turkey” bird, a car can definitely fit in the country “Turkey”. We were really impressed at the level of creativity the students demonstrated while playing this game.

We also enjoyed a lot of lively discussions. In one of the discussions we talked about what we would do during winter vacation. A new word that was learned during this discussion was “binge”. During winter vacation one could “binge out on TV and potato chips”. What will you do for winter vacation? Tell us next week at English Village!

6th Friday English Village: November 3, 2017

金曜日の後期第6回目の英語村を開催しました。

A message from Malaurie:

As November 3rd is a national holiday as the “Culture Day”, we discussed the meaning and origins of that day. Some students researched as we didn’t know much and discovered interesting facts, as it’s linked to the Japanese Constitution and how its purpose could be developed, as many of participants thought there weren’t many festivities. We also discussed about different cultural aspects and how culture was promoted in France. And Malaurie talked a lot about how mainly watching movies in English and with English subtitles helped her in learning a oreign language.

Next week, the topic is: BIRTHDAYS! When is your birthday? What do you like to do on your birthday? Do you do anything special? and other questions… We’d like also to try an “international” dance: the “Chicken dance”!!! And we’ll have a special treat…Come and join us! Let’s have some fun, together.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursdays or Fridays!
