Thank you everyone for joining the EV today. In addition to the 1st year students we were able to catch up with many now 2nd year students. It was very exciting to hear how all about the progress you made last year, and your hopes for this coming year. Keep up the good work!

Wow, how the weather has changed! Over the past few weeks we have heard from many of the new students how difficult it has been for them to adjust to Nagano’s cold weather. However this week we have had hot and sunny weather almost every day! You must be very happy!

Today we talked a lot about “settling in” to your new life. We were very impressed on how you are learning to balance school life and the many details of home life. We hope that in the coming months you’ll be able to “iron out the kinks” that remain.

*settling in/settle in (phrasal verb): to arrange yourself and the things you own so you feel more comfortable in a new place.
* iron out the kinks (idiom): to try to fix small problems that exist in a project/plan.
